Towards the last quarter of 2006, we purchased a cargo trailer for our business. We bought it brand new from across the border - in Bellingham, Wa., USA. Purchase price converted to Cad $ plus taxes was $2700. We did not use it much though because my husband did not like using it. We used it as storage since 2007.
Mar posted a for sale ad in Craigslist to sell it. It's been posted and reposted in Craigslist for a few months now. Yesterday, a man called for the 2nd time, came to see the trailer, bought it right there and then.
We are Cad $2100 richer, thanks to that man. I think this is a very good price considering that depreciation is a lot for all kinds of things second hand here in Canada.
For example, a leather sofa cost $2500. You want to replace it after couple of years but the sofa is in perfect conditon or maybe you are moving to a smaller condo and it is too big, you'd be lucky to get $500 dollars for it.
